FOR many girls, the idea of becoming a model may never be more than a distant dream. Catherine Bruce was chosen from thousands of young hopefuls to become the face of a teenage perfume.
The 16-year-old, from Glassel, near Banchory, sent her picture away in an online competition and did not expect to hear anything back. Three months and a phone call later and she was flying to London to become the face of Exclamation, a fragrance designed for youngsters.

A research has indicated that olive oil had a large number of usages in ancient Greece. The research, conducted by Adelphi Universitys Anagnostis Agelarakis, has outlined the use of olives and olive oil in antiquity, ancient and traditional cultivation methods, and olives and human nutrition and health.
Olive oil was not only considered as a health product in ancient Greece, but something that had in essence a divine power embedded in it defined in a pragmatic way, not in a occult or abstract way. It was a gift of the goddess Athena to the Athenians, therefore, it had the emblematic presence of the goddess.

The invigorating scent of pepper spray perfumed downtown St. Paul again on Tuesday.
Police used percussion grenades, tear gas and pepper spray to push protesters out of downtown at the end of an otherwise peaceful march for poor people that drew more than 1,000 participants.
The event largely avoided the chaos that engulfed the area on Monday, when bands of black-clad anarchists smashed store windows and threw rocks and bottles at police.

The Shelburne Museum has been likened to a grandmother’s attic. But instead of sitting forgotten and dust covered, its examples of early American furniture, toys, signs, hat boxes, tools and more are spotlighted and painstakingly preserved.
A new children’s book by a Rutland author celebrates the spirited and highly original woman behind the museum, Electra Havemeyer Webb.

Congressional negotiators agreed yesterday to a ban on a family of toxins found in children’s products, handing a major victory to parents and health experts who have been clamoring for the government to remove harmful chemicals from toys.
The ban, which would take effect in six months, would have significant implications for U.S. consumers, whose homes are filled with hundreds of plastic products designed for children that may be causing dangerous health effects.

This industry relies on continuous innovation and R&D investment, both for product manufacturing and for marketing, in order to consistently combine safety requirements and client demand. Apart from the obvious business activity based in Paris, capital of beauty and fashion, two other national clusters are particularly attractive.
