Lou Lou fragrances by Cacharel were launched in 1987. This designer fragrance is a flowery blend of flowery aromas.

Lou Lou perfumes for women by Cacharel fragrances are recommended for romantic wear.
Although Lou Lou has a very distinctive smell, at times it seems to appear different, even on the same wearer. One of the original attractions, also, was the packaging and bottle. Personally, these days I think that’s crazy. Overall the actual smell must be the most important purchasing decision. However ,looking at a perfume as a product, in all it’s parts, the packaging of LouLou is still unusual.

Lou Lou is contained in a ceramic, sky-blue, solid bottle which is hexagonal in shape. You cannot see the perfume at all. The bottle top has some of the dark maroon which is part of the outer box also. This box is heavily floral in appearance but in a ‘Design’ sort of way. It does not actually show flowers as they are realistically seen.

Lou Lou is a fragrance from the house of Cacharel made by Lanco’me. It was launched in 1987 and therefore has become well established these days. I still think of it as a new fragrance but I suppose that’s down to my age. It does means though that, when I first bought it, Lou Lou was still quite new. As such it definitely seemed of the moment then and was usually worn by younger women. Nowadays, having been around for 20 years, that’s probably changed.

Lou Lou has a heady, powerful scent. To me it is a warm and rich fragrance which could never be described as subtle. It is very ‘In your face’ and not a perfume to be ignored or worn to blend in.

Most of the Lou Lou I have bought for myself, or as a gift for someone, has been a small 50ml perfume spray Despite that it does, and has consistently, lasted a long time. Even the smallest squirt of Lou Lou perfume will be discernible many hours later. The lingering smell, in common with most perfumes, changes over a few hours but it matures well. It usually ends by leaving a hint of a warm and musky smell.

The advertising bumph seems to suggest that ‘Lou Lou is a perfume young girls wear to seem more grown-up and adults wear to seem a little younger’, and I guess that I can agree with that. Lou Lou is an unmistakable mix of flowers and spices.

There are a few different products in this range now and there is a Lou Lou Blue. It is possible to pick up a bottle of Lou Lou these days for anything from about 10 pounds. Of course, it depends whether you are buying the actual perfume of more of a cologne.

Courmarin is apparently the prime ingredient of Lou Lou. Apparently this is derived from flowers and grasses of late summer. The vanilla rich scent combines with jasmine, mimosa, iris, and orange blossom. It has an oriental feel and reminds me of the patchouli oil which was around so much in the sixties and seventies. Apparently the perfume creators had a much earlier period in mind and the hexagonal shaped bottles were inspired from the art-deco styles of the late 1920, and 30’s.
