US-based Alcome Perfumes and Cosmetics, which has its global bottling operations in India, today announced its foray into the country’s retail market and roped in Bollywood actress Bipasa Basu to be the face of its perfume brands.
The Indian subsidiary of the company, Alcome Perfumes and Cosmetics PLC, has two manufacturing units at Noida and Bhiwadi and a new unit is coming up in Noida SEZ with an investment of Rs 100 crore, to be operational by year-end.
“The company had been manufacturing perfumes in India to serve global markets. After almost 20 years of operations, we are launching five out of seven global brands here,” Alcome PLC Managing Director Hansraj Manghani told reporters.
He said, with the new unit coming up in Noida, the total capacity will go up to four lakh bottles per day and half of the capacities would cater to the Indian market.
The company’s current turnover is close to Rs 75 crore, which is expected to double in this year, “The company plans to sell products worth Rs 150 crore in India besides close to Rs 100 crore coming from exports. In the next three years, turnover in India is expected to soar up to Rs 500 crore.”
The company currently manufactures fragrances in India for exporting to 68 countries at existing plants in Noida and Bhiwadi, having combined capacity of 1,10,000 bottles per day.
He said to establish its presence in the domestic market, the company would be offering its range through direct selling mode, conventional retail and modern retail trade.
