Tea Rose For Women Review: Remembered this lovely fragrance from my grandmother, who was the best-smelling woman around. My mother told me that she wore the “original” Perfumers Workshop Tea Rose. After receiving this product I can only surmise that either this is not the “original”, is a different Perfumers Workshop, or they have changed their formula.

This smells very artificial, almost plastic-y. When you spray it on your arm, the scent is completely gone in an hour or so. Fortunately it was not an expensive product, so it wasn’t a great loss. I miss the lovely fragrance that my grandmother wore, and hope that somewhere out there it still exists.

There are a lot of ingredients one can use to make great  discount perfumes . But the components, percentage and actual formulation of such would depend on what type of scent is meant to be produced. For instance, the early Egyptians used a lot of Kyphi, odorous incense, in their perfumes. In today’s times there are lot more options when it comes to ingredients. A perfume is generally a blend of essential oils, fragrant compounds, and fixatives and solvents.

The amount and type of solvent blended with the fragrance oil makes a perfume a pure perfume, Eau de parfum, Eau de toilette, or Eau de Cologne. Perfumes oils are often diluted with solvents. Pure perfume is often the most expensive to make with 22% of essential oils. Eau de Parfum comes second with around 15 to 22% essential oils. Eau de Toilette consists of 8 to 15% oils and is the favorite cheap perfume for both men and women. Eau de Cologne contains 4% essential oils. Read the rest of this entry »

Price Range:  $69.00 - $78.00

Calyx Perfume by Prescriptives, Launched by the design house of prescriptives in 1986, calyx is classified as a refreshing, flowery fragrance. This feminine scent possesses a blend of a fruity bouquet of guava, papaya and passion fruit with a citrusy blend. Middle notes are flowery, including jasmine, marigold, freesia and marigold. Lowest notes of moss and aromatic woods. It is recommended for romantic wear.

This Prescriptives Calyx perfume has been one of my favorite accessories for years.  I love the fresh light scent.  Calyx is the perfect scent for daily usage, and to me, smells even better after a few hours on.  This would be a great perfume for someone looking for a lighter perfume, but doesn’t want to go with powerful floral fragrances.  When I wear it I often receive compliments from people wondering exactly what scent I’m wearing.
