Halston Couture For Women Review: Halston Couture was released in 1988, and is no longer being made. So, I’m guessing the bottles for sale here on Amazon are vintage bottles from the 80’s. Halston Couture is the only Halston bottle that has the sterling silver top, and which does tarnish if not polished.

Its scent is very similar to regular Halston for Women the same woody-patchouli smell. Some people describe it as “a walk in the woods,” and some people describe it as “wood shavings in a hamster cage.” In any case, Halston and Halston Couture are nothing like the many “florals” that are so ubiquitous right now.

Grey Flannel By Geoffrey Beene For Men Review: David Abraham makes a very good point. I’ve also used the Grey Flannel that comes in a clear bottle. Maybe it’s my imagination, but the product being reviewed seems to be a bit “stronger”, which is fine with me, as I just use a little less. I’ve used Grey Flannel off and on for what must be 20 years.

The clear bottle version was given to me as a gift about a year ago and I simply thought that they changed the packaging. Now it seems that there may be two versions if my nose is working properly. It’s difficult to “rate” a scent as it depends very much on one’s body chemistry. However, unless it just doesn’t smell right on you, Grey Flannel is classic.

Private Collection Perfume for Women Descriptionprivate collection perfume for women: Introduced to the world in 1973, Private Collection had long been reserved by Mrs. Estee Lauder for her own personal use. In love with the floral freshness of the scent, her friends finally insisted that this private masterpiece be made public.

“Private Collection is a fresh green chypre composition that was Estee Lauder’s private perfume.

As the story is told, Lauder often tried out a variety of scents while she was creating a new fragrance for her company. Naturally, she had a cache of personal favorites. When complimented on her scent one time, she was asked what it was; she replied that it was from her private collection. Soon the word spread, and customers began asking for “private collection” at Lauder counters. Estee Lauder accommodated them, and thus was born Private Collection. ”

Knowing Perfume for Women Reviews: Tried this perfume again after over a year and now I absolutely love Knowing! This is one of EL’s best sellers. This is a very deep European styled scent that has rose, mimosa, plum, sandelwood and orange blossom just to name a few. I felt delicious with Knowing on. In my opinion this would only work on a woman who is ‘knowing’. She knows herself, knows what she wants and definitely knows what she doesn’t want! This is a great for fall scent. Knowing is also in a pretty bottle. Downright sexy if woodsy florals mesh with your chemistry.

Cologne is the little black dress of perfumes. It’s a basic, it’s a classic, it will suit you forever and every girl should have at least one in a fragrance collection.

This scent is a refreshing antidote to the simpering, cloying and cynically commercial fruity florals now clogging up perfume counters. With its zesty, citric top notes, it is as refreshingly crisp as a newly laundered white shirt, making it an ideal splash or coolant in summer. Its dilute concentration makes it as subtle, translucent and evanescent as chiffon to wear.

We need escape. Turin and Sanchez do for the universe of fragrance what Robert Parker did for wine. They divide it; they classify it; they make it easy to understand by comparing bottled aromas to elements outside the purview of aromas. As a bonus, Turin is more wickedly funny than anyone holding a doctorate in biophysics deserves to be.

For the reader seeking further evidence that the authors know of what they speak, consider this: Certain perfume companies refuse to send them samples of their wares, so fearfully do they cower from the withering pen of condemnation that Turin and Sanchez can wield. If a reviewer wrote this about your product “fragrance equivalent of a Motel 6” would you send along any more free samples.
