L’Oreal SA, the world’s largest cosmetics maker, said first-half profit rose 6.8 percent, the slowest growth in three years, as European and U.S. shoppers pared spending on makeup and perfumes.
Net income in the six months through June climbed to 1.26 billion euros ($1.9 billion), or 2.11 euros a share, from 1.18 billion euros, or 1.94 euros, a year earlier, the Paris-based company said today. That was more than the median estimate of 1.21 billion euros in a Bloomberg survey of seven analysts.

A record 10 global cosmetic companies have set up branch offices at the Dubai Airport Free Zone (DAFZ) in recent months, spurred by robust sales and growth figures of the cosmetics and personal care sector.
DAFZ director-general, Dr Mohammed Al Zarouni, said cosmetic and fragrance companies were being lured by its tax-free and 100 percent ownership incentives.

Youth Dew Amber Nude Perfume for Women Reviews: I was looking fo r a whole year for a new scent, I wanted something musky, spicy, dark and sultry. this is one of the few perfumes that doesn’t make nauseous. The top notes are heady, but the best is when you heat up throughout the day and the rich bottom notes come out. People just love to smell me, it makes them swoony.There’s a very organic quality about this scent. Really too bad they’re discontinuing it. The original version, just plain Youth Dew, is nice, but not nearly as sultry as the Amber Nude.

Rose is the ultimate perfume paradigm, but today, this is strangely more theory than reality. It is universally known within the industry that the smell of rose does quite poorly in focus groups and, to perfume buyers, reads “old lady.”
One spectacularly good and novel approach to rose is Cannabis Rose by Fresh. The label’s Cannabis Santal, a 2006 creation by the brilliant young perfumer Caroline Sabas and Fresh creative director Lev Glazman, was a triumph. This was explicitly cannabis as pot, the ultra-rich, dirty, jungle-floor organic resin scent of the dried leaves. Sabas mixed it with sandalwood, and it remains a mesmerizing work of art.

I make smells. I’ve always been interested in how things smelled, which made me a very peculiar child. At five years old, I kept the lid from a sardine can and would smell it regularly.
I was also fascinated by the scent of coins. Almost anything has an odour of some kind and, once I’d graduated in applied biochemistry, I discovered there was an industry making flavours and fragrances. I could speak the same language as the perfumers and flavourists, so I got a job alongside them.
